Custom Woodworking in Guanacaste
Pergolas, shade structures, outdoor furniture, planter benches, and bespoke wood features — handcrafted from tropical hardwoods for Costa Rica's coastal climate.
Woodwork Built by Hand for Tropical Living
Our Custom Woodworking division designs, builds, and installs original pieces in Melina, Cedar, and Teak — sustainable Costa Rican hardwoods chosen for their warmth and their resistance to sun, salt, humidity, and heavy rain. Nothing is ordered from a catalog: every piece is measured, built, finished, and installed for your specific space.
Below you'll find the pieces we build, the hardwoods we work with, where woodwork performs best in a coastal home, and exactly what to expect from your first consultation through final inspection.

Hardwoods We Work With
Each hardwood has a different grain, tone, and level of upkeep — we'll help you match the right one to your space and budget.
Teak
The premium choice for exposed outdoor furniture. Its natural oils resist water, salt air, and insects, and it weathers to a soft silver-grey if left unsealed.
Melina
A fast-growing, sustainably farmed Costa Rican hardwood. Light, stable, and excellent value — our most-requested wood for dining sets, benches, and planters.
Cedar
Warm reddish tone with natural rot resistance and a fine grain that finishes beautifully — ideal for cabinetry, doors, and interior detail.
Guanacaste & Local Hardwoods
Broad, character-rich slabs perfect for statement tables and bar tops, sourced locally whenever availability allows.
Marine Finishes & Hardware
Every outdoor piece is sealed with UV-stable marine-grade finishes and assembled with stainless hardware that won't stain or corrode near the coast.
Popular Woodworking Projects
The pieces homeowners across Guanacaste ask us to build most often.
Pool Decks & Terraces
Shade bars, loungers, and benches that make the hottest part of the property usable all day.
Outdoor Dining Areas
Solid hardwood tables with matching benches or chairs, sized to seat your family and guests comfortably.
Entryways & Gardens
Planter benches, raised beds, and gates that frame the arrival to your home.
Outdoor Kitchens
Hardwood cabinetry and bar seating that pair directly with granite BBQ countertops.
Bathrooms & Closets
Custom vanities, under-sink cabinets, and storage built to the exact dimensions of the room.
Vacation Rentals
Durable, photogenic furniture packages that hold up to constant guest turnover and coastal weather.
Privacy & Shade Screens
Slatted hardwood screens that block sightlines and soften afternoon sun without closing off a space.
Why Choose Custom Woodworking?
What custom-built hardwood gives you that imported or mass-produced furniture cannot.
Made to Fit Your Space
Every piece is designed around your actual dimensions — no compromises on an awkward corner, terrace width, or ceiling height.
Built for the Coastal Climate
Tropical hardwoods, marine-grade finishes, and stainless hardware stand up to salt air, UV, and rainy-season humidity.
Sustainably Sourced
We build primarily in farmed Costa Rican hardwoods like Melina and Teak, sourced through local suppliers.
Solid Wood Construction
Real joinery and solid stock instead of veneer and particle board — pieces that can be sanded and refinished for decades.
One-of-a-Kind Character
Natural grain, tone, and hand-finished detail mean no two pieces we build are ever identical.
Adds Long-Term Value
Custom outdoor living space is one of the strongest returns on investment for a Guanacaste home or rental property.

Frequently Asked Questions
The questions homeowners ask most before starting a custom woodworking project in Guanacaste.
Which woods do you work with?
We build primarily in Teak, Melina, and Cedar, along with other local Costa Rican hardwoods depending on the piece, the finish you want, and current availability. We'll recommend the best option for your budget and location during your consultation.
How long does a custom project take?
Timelines depend on the size of the piece, wood availability, and our current build schedule. Smaller furniture is typically faster than a pergola or full shade structure — we give you an estimated timeline in writing with your quote.
Do you deliver and install?
Yes. We handle the full process — consultation, on-site measurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, and a final walkthrough — throughout Guanacaste.
How is a woodworking quote prepared?
Each quote is customized based on the wood selected, project dimensions, joinery and finish requirements, hardware, installation complexity, and project location. Consultations and quotes are free.
How should outdoor wood be maintained?
Rinse and wipe surfaces regularly, keep pieces out of standing water where possible, and re-apply the sealer roughly once a year — more often for fully exposed pieces. We review the exact care routine for your wood and finish at handover.
Can woodworking be combined with granite and stone?
Absolutely. Many homeowners pair custom cabinetry, outdoor kitchens, and bar builds with granite or quartz surfaces from our Granite & Stone division, so the whole space is designed and installed by one team.
Do you serve all of Guanacaste?
Yes. We proudly serve homeowners throughout Tamarindo, Flamingo, Potrero, Brasilito, Playas del Coco, Nosara, and many surrounding communities.
